How long does it take for MPP to publish a book and provide a printed copy to the author?
Generally, it takes about three months from your first contact with us to having a book in your hand.
Who will handle the steps of getting my book from concept to print?
We will. We’ve done it before, and we will do it again for you. We are author-friendly and address all the steps (copy-editing, proofreading, cover design, interior layout, print and eBook formatting, size, and paper specifications, obtaining ISBNs for print and eBook, securing copyright, etc.) from start to finish.
Who will copy-edit my book?
We will if it’s necessary.
How will I get ISBNs for the various versions of my book?
We get those for you, for both print and eBook.
How will I copyright my work?
We guide you through securing your copyright by uploading and registering your finished PDF with the US Copyright Office.
Who will help with my cover design?
We will. We have contacts with excellent and efficient artists and designers.
Who will lay out my book inside the covers?
Our fantastic in-house designer will interact with you to work on your vision and preferences, whether your book is text only, or text and illustrations or photos.
Who will print my book?
We use IngramSpark, a company that produces high-quality print-on-demand books. They have worldwide distribution channels. We enjoy a very successful partnership with them.
Who will distribute my book?
Again, IngramSpark, which has a vast global distribution network, brick-and-mortar and online.
How should I price my finished book?
We will advise you, looking at printing costs, shipping costs, retailers’ discounts, etc. It’s not too hard and can be revised and tweaked at later times.
Who will market my book?
We market it on our website and through our social media presence. You market it through your self-promotion, book fairs, lectures, etc.
Who will ship my books?
Brick-and-mortar booksellers will have your books on hand and will ship if necessary. Online stores such as Amazon will handle their own shipping. Books sold on our website are shipped by us.
How do I get author’s copies of my books to sell myself?
We order them from the printer, IngramSpark, and have them shipped directly to you. You get them at cost (printing plus shipping) plus a small additional surcharge per book. The surcharge is $1 or 10% of cost, whichever is lower. The books you receive are yours to sell or give away as you choose.
How much of my book’s profits does Maudlin Pond Press get?
For any book sold through our website or delivered by IngramSpark to retailers we get 33% of the profit and you keep 67%.
When do I get my percentage of profits from sales of my books?
We transmit your royalties (profits) to you five months after the month of sales.
How much of my book’s profits do I get for books that I sell directly?
You keep all the profit for books that you sell directly. You purchase your books at cost (printing plus shipping) plus our small surcharge.
How fast do you respond to my questions?
Fast. Your book is important to us. We are excited about it. We strive to keep the process moving smoothly and professionally.
Will I get any free author’s copies of my book?
Yes, MPP will provide the author with a single printed copy as part of the final printing approval process.
